First Day
Read the Lesson 24 Notes
Second Day
Read Romans 14:1-8
Romans 14:1-8
[1] Now receive the one who is weak in the faith, and do not have disputes over differing opinions. [2] One person believes in eating everything, but the weak person eats only vegetables. [3] The one who eats everything must not despise the one who does not, and the one who abstains must not judge the one who eats everything, for God has accepted him. [4] Who are you to pass judgment on another’s servant? Before his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
[5] One person regards one day holier than other days, and another regards them all alike. Each must be fully convinced in his own mind. [6] The one who observes the day does it for the Lord. The one who eats, eats for the Lord because he gives thanks to God, and the one who abstains from eating abstains for the Lord, and he gives thanks to God. [7] For none of us lives for himself and none dies for himself. [8] If we live, we live for the Lord; if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. (NET)
Question 4b
Exodus 20:1-17
[1] God spoke all these words:
[2] “I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you from the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery.
[3] “You shall have no other gods before me.
[4] “You shall not make for yourself a carved image or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above or that is on the earth beneath or that is in the water below. [5] You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I, the Lord, your God, am a jealous God, responding to the transgression of fathers by dealing with children to the third and fourth generations of those who reject me, [6] and showing covenant faithfulness to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
[7] “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold guiltless anyone who takes his name in vain.
[8] “Remember the Sabbath day to set it apart as holy. [9] For six days you may labor and do all your work, [10] but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; on it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your cattle, or the resident foreigner who is in your gates. [11] For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, and he rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.
[12] “Honor your father and your mother, that you may live a long time in the land the Lord your God is giving to you.
[13] “You shall not murder.
[14] “You shall not commit adultery.
[15] “You shall not steal.
[16] “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
[17] “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that belongs to your neighbor.” (NET)
Acts 4:11-12
[11] This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, that has become the cornerstone. [12] And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people by which we must be saved.” (NET)
Romans 3:21-26
[21] But now apart from the law the righteousness of God (although it is attested by the law and the prophets) has been disclosed— [22] namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction, [23] for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. [24] But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. [25] God publicly displayed him at his death as the mercy seat accessible through faith. This was to demonstrate his righteousness because God in his forbearance had passed over the sins previously committed. [26] This was also to demonstrate his righteousness in the present time, so that he would be just and the justifier of the one who lives because of Jesus’ faithfulness. (NET)
Romans 6:1-2
[1] What shall we say then? Are we to remain in sin so that grace may increase? [2] Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? (NET)
Romans 13:9-10
[9] For the commandments, “Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet,” (and if there is any other commandment) are summed up in this, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” [10] Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (NET)
Third Day
Read Romans 14:9-12
Romans 14:9-12
[9] For this reason Christ died and returned to life, so that he may be the Lord of both the dead and the living.
[10] But you who eat vegetables only—why do you judge your brother or sister? And you who eat everything—why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. [11] For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will give praise to God.” [12] Therefore, each of us will give an account of himself to God. (NET)
Question 6
Acts 10:42
[42] He commanded us to preach to the people and to warn them that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead. (NET)
Acts 17:30-31
[30] Therefore, although God has overlooked such times of ignorance, he now commands all people everywhere to repent, [31] because he has set a day on which he is going to judge the world in righteousness, by a man whom he designated, having provided proof to everyone by raising him from the dead.” (NET)
Romans 2:16
[16] on the day when God will judge the secrets of human hearts, according to my gospel through Christ Jesus. (NET)
Fourth Day
Read Romans 14:13-18
Romans 14:13-18
[13] Therefore we must not pass judgment on one another, but rather determine never to place an obstacle or a trap before a brother or sister. [14] I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that there is nothing unclean in itself; still, it is unclean to the one who considers it unclean. [15] For if your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy by your food someone for whom Christ died. [16] Therefore do not let what you consider good be spoken of as evil. [17] For the kingdom of God does not consist of food and drink, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. [18] For the one who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by people. (NET)
Fifth Day
Read Romans 14:19-23
Romans 14:19-23
[19] So then, let us pursue what makes for peace and for building up one another. [20] Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. For although all things are clean, it is wrong to cause anyone to stumble by what you eat. [21] It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything that causes your brother to stumble. [22] The faith you have, keep to yourself before God. Blessed is the one who does not judge himself by what he approves. [23] But the man who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not do so from faith, and whatever is not from faith is sin. (NET)
Question 12b
Romans 12:1-8
[1] Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—alive, holy, and pleasing to God—which is your reasonable service. [2] Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
[3] For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith. [4] For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, [5] so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another. [6] And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith. [7] If it is service, he must serve; if it is teaching, he must teach; [8] if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness. (NET)
Sixth Day
Review Romans 14
