First Day

Read the Lesson 23 Notes

Second Day

Read Romans 13:8-10

Romans 13:8-10

[8] Owe no one anything, except to love one another, for the one who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. [9] For the commandments, “Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet,” (and if there is any other commandment) are summed up in this, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” [10] Love does no wrong to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (NET)

Question 3b

[43] “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor’ and ‘hate your enemy.’ [44] But I say to you, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you, (NET)

Luke 10:25-37

[25] Now an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” [26] He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you understand it?” [27] The expert answered, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” [28] Jesus said to him, “You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live.”

[29] But the expert, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” [30] Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him up, and went off, leaving him half dead. [31] Now by chance a priest was going down that road, but when he saw the injured man, he passed by on the other side. [32] So too a Levite, when he came up to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. [33] But a Samaritan who was traveling came to where the injured man was, and when he saw him, he felt compassion for him. [34] He went up to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring olive oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. [35] The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever else you spend, I will repay you when I come back this way.’ [36] Which of these three do you think became a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” [37] The expert in religious law said, “The one who showed mercy to him.” So Jesus said to him, “Go and do the same.” (NET)

Fourth Day

Read Romans 13:12-13

Romans 13:12-13

[12] The night has advanced toward dawn; the day is near. So then we must lay aside the works of darkness, and put on the weapons of light. [13] Let us live decently as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in discord and jealousy. (NET)

Question 10a

1 John 1:5-7

[5] Now this is the gospel message we have heard from him and announce to you: God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. [6] If we say we have fellowship with him and yet keep on walking in the darkness, we are lying and not practicing the truth. Question 13

Galatians 3:27

[27] For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (NET)

Ephesians 4:17-24

[17] So I say this, and insist in the Lord, that you no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. [18] They are darkened in their understanding, being alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts. [19] Because they are callous, they have given themselves over to indecency for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. [20] But you did not learn about Christ like this, [21] if indeed you heard about him and were taught in him, just as the truth is in Jesus. [22] You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay aside the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires, [23] to be renewed in the spirit of your mind, [24] and to put on the new man who has been created in God’s image—in righteousness and holiness that comes from truth. (NET)

Question 14

Galatians 5:22-23

[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (NET)

Ephesians 6:10-18

[10] Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power. [11] Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. [12] For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. [13] For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand. [14] Stand firm therefore, by fastening the belt of truth around your waist, by putting on the breastplate of righteousness, [15] by fitting your feet with the preparation that comes from the good news of peace, [16] and in all of this, by taking up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. [17] And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God). [18] With every prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit, and to this end be alert, with all perseverance and petitions for all the saints. (NET)

[13] for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort—for the sake of his good pleasure—is God. (NET)
